Chowrasta

It is a historical public square and is the heart of Darjeeling. Located at a hill top from where you can see the mesmerising view of Mt Kanchenjunga and surrounding hills. From the main town its just a few minutes walk and on your way there one can find many shops selling local products and souvenirs that one can take back home as a memory. You will also notice some buildings that were constructed few centuries ago by the Britishers and has now been converted into hotels and restaurants. After reaching chowrasta you can stroll around, sit down and relax. Or you can simply sit on a horseback and ride around the Mall Road to make it more memorable.

Mahakal Temple

Located on a hilltop just above Chowrasta. It is considered one of the main temples and is always visited by the locals and the tourists. Batasia Loop

It is one among the major tourist site. You can purchase a Toy train ticket ( also known as Joy-Ride ) from Darjeeling Railway station . You will board the train from there and it will take you to Batasia loop. The best part is that the train that you will be boarding will be a Unesco World Heritage Steam Engine that operates on Coal. Once the train reaches Batasia, it will halt there for sometime and there will be some kind of entertainment and refreshment provided to the tourists. On sunny days one can enjoy the beautiful view from there. Then the Toy train will drop you back at the Darjeeling station.

Peace Pagoda

The Peace Pagoda is another must Visit religious site in Darjeeling. Founded by a Japanese Monk named Nichidatsu Fuji who is also the founder of Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. It was build with a message to bring peace and harmony among all religions and nations around the world. Located just few kilometres from the main town. It was founded in 1954 by the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to commemorate the successful climb of Mt Everest by late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary.
